For plumbers in North Jersey

Every call answered, even the 2 AM one.

An AI phone agent written for a plumbing shop. It answers under your shop’s name, takes what a dispatcher would take, follows your own rule on what counts as an emergency, books to the calendar you already run, and texts the caller their confirmation. $297 a month, 400 minutes included, then 30 cents a minute, setup quoted per shop. Some plumbers call it an AI receptionist or an AI answering service; this one is written for your shop. Call it and hear it.

01 · one call, start to finish

A burst pipe at 2:10 AM, handled.

Not a highlight reel. One call, the way it actually goes: the caller is panicking, the water is still running, and the first useful thing anyone can do is get to the shutoff. The agent asks that before it asks for a name.

Then it takes what your dispatcher would take, the address and a number that works, applies your after-hours rule instead of guessing at one, and hands the caller to the on-call plumber. The confirmation text lands before the caller has set the phone down.

  • Shutoff first, then details
  • Your emergency rule, not the agent’s
  • Callback inside the shop’s own on-call window
  • A text with what was logged, so nothing is repeated at the door

Sample call · 2:10 AM · Hopatcong Illustrative
Agent “Tessaro Plumbing, this is the after-hours line. What’s going on?”
Caller “There’s water everywhere. A pipe in the basement just let go and it’s coming through the ceiling. I don’t know what to do.”
Agent “Okay. First thing. Do you know where your main water shutoff is? It’s usually where the line comes into the house, near the meter or the front foundation wall.”
Caller “I think so. There’s a valve by the meter.”
Agent “If you can get to it safely, shut it off. I’ll stay on the line. Tell me when the water is off.”
Caller “Okay. It’s slowing down. It’s off.”
Agent “Good. That’s the biggest thing done. What’s the address?”
Caller “Lakeside Avenue in Hopatcong. Number 27, the gray house.”
Agent “Got it. And the best number to reach you on, in case this call drops?”
Caller “This one. 973, 555, 0198.”
Agent “A burst line with water in the house counts as an emergency under Tessaro’s after-hours rule, so I’m paging the on-call plumber now. They’ll call you back within the shop’s on-call window. Until then, keep the main off.”
Caller “Okay. Thank you.”
Agent “You’ll get a text in a second with what I’ve logged and the shop’s number, so you have it. Hang tight.”

The calls a plumbing shop actually gets.

Some plumbers call it an AI answering service. The question is which of these it takes off your phone, and which it leaves for you on purpose.

What it handles

  • No hot water: takes the address, tank or tankless, gas or electric, and books the first opening
  • Drain backed up, water coming up in the tub: gets the details and puts it on the board
  • Frozen line in January: asks whether anything is leaking yet, then applies your emergency rule
  • Sump pump quit in a storm: same rule, on-call plumber if that is what your rule says
  • Water heater replacement quote: takes the request and flags it for you, or quotes from your own price list if you turn that on.
  • “Do you come out to Vernon?”: answered from your own service area, not a guess
  • The landlord with three units: takes all three addresses and books what your calendar allows

What it will not do

  • Pricing stays with you unless you hand it your price list. Out of the box it takes the request and flags it.
  • It does not diagnose over the phone. A plumber does that on site.
  • If a caller asks whether it is a person, it says no, every time.
  • It does not run the office. It catches the calls the office could not get to.

02 · the second leak

The second leak, while the first one is still on the line.

Saturday morning, the agent is walking a caller through a flooded basement when a second call rings in. That one does not hit voicemail. Within seconds it gets a text under your shop’s name asking what is going on and whether a call back or a text works better.

From there the whole thing happens in the thread. They text back the problem, the agent offers real openings off your calendar, and the booking shows up on the board the same as any phone booking. Same agent, same thread, nothing for them to install.

  • Text within seconds of the ring it could not take
  • Booked, moved, or handed to you, without leaving the thread
  • Reminder text the morning of, to everyone booked overnight

03 · the part most of them skip

It works with the software your shop already runs.

A plumbing shop does not have a slow week to switch systems. So the agent is wired into what you use now: a field service platform, a scheduling app, a CRM, a shared Google Calendar, or a paper book and a phone if that is the honest answer. The emergency call at 2 AM ends up in the same place the 2 PM one does.

That is the reason setup is quoted, not printed. Connecting the agent to a shared calendar and connecting it to a platform that knows your service areas, your on-call rotation, and your water-heater warranty flags are different jobs, and pretending otherwise would overcharge half of you.

A dashboard exists if you want to see calls, texts, and the calendar in one place. It is optional. The agent works the same whether anyone opens it.

04 · the number

What a plumbing shop pays: $297 a month, meter printed.

400 minutes are included, which works out to about 130 calls at three minutes a call. A burst-pipe weekend in February or a week of sump-pump calls after a storm can run past that; when it does, the rate is 30 cents a minute and that is the whole story. The allowance and the overage are on this page so you can price a bad week yourself before you call us.

Setup is a one-time fee quoted for your shop once we know what the agent has to plug into. No contract, 30 days notice to cancel, and your number stays with you.

Where it stops.

The agent answers the burst pipe at 2 AM and the second call that rang while your office was already on the first one. It does not run your shop. Which plumber takes the job, what the repair costs, whether the water heater gets replaced or fixed: those stay with the people who know the work. The agent takes the calls nobody could get to, and hands the rest to your team, the way it always was.

Call the demo line and describe a leak. Ask it whether it is a person. Ask it what the job costs and hear what it does with a price question. Then decide whether it belongs on your line.
