For service businesses across New Jersey

AI phone agents for New Jersey businesses.

It answers every call under your shop’s name, texts back the ones it could not take, books the job onto the calendar you already use, and hands the caller to a person when they ask, during the hours you set. $297 a month with 400 minutes included, then 30 cents a minute. Setup is one time and quoted for your shop. Call it right now and hear it.

Four o’clock in Denville, and the phone is in the truck.

It is 4 PM on a Tuesday. You are on a job in Denville, up a ladder or under a sink or halfway through a panel, and your phone is on the seat of the truck where you left it. It rings. You hear it, maybe. You are not climbing down for it.

The person calling has water where water should not be, or a furnace that quit, or a deck they finally decided to build. They found your name on their phone. When the voicemail picks up, they do not leave a message. They go back to the list and call the next name.

Nobody did anything wrong. You were working, which is exactly why they wanted you. But the job went to whoever answered, and you will never know it was there.

The agent exists for that call. Not the ones you already answer. The one at 4 PM, the one at 9 PM, and the two that come in together while you are on the phone with a supplier.

What it does, and where it stops.

People call this an AI receptionist; here it is an AI phone agent, because it texts and books as well as answers. The limits are printed beside the features on purpose. Most of this industry leaves them off the page.

What it does

  • Answers the phone, day and night, under your business name
  • Texts, including the text back within seconds on a call it could not take
  • Books onto the calendar you already run, and reschedules when they text back
  • Transfers the call live to a person when the caller asks, during the hours you set

What it will not do

  • It does not quote a price unless you turn that on. Out of the box, pricing stays yours.
  • It does not diagnose the problem. Your people do that on site.
  • It does not pretend to be a person, ever, if somebody asks.
  • It does not replace your office. It takes the calls nobody was there for.

01 · how one call goes

One call, from the ring to the morning list.

Sample call. This is the shape of every call the agent takes, whether the shop is in Sparta or Hoboken. The names change, the rules are yours, the steps do not.

Nothing on the right happens instead of you. It happens while you are on the job, and it is all waiting for you when you get to the truck.

The full phone agent breakdown

  1. It rings

Your existing number, nothing forwarded to a call center. Second ring, any hour, two at once if two come in.

  2. Answered under your name

The agent picks up as your shop, in a natural voice, on your services and your hours. If the caller asks whether it is a person, it says it is an AI.

  3. Qualified, then booked or texted

It gets what a dispatcher would get: the problem, the address, the timing. It books an opening you can actually work, or texts the caller a time if the calendar needs you. Anyone who asks for a person is transferred live during the hours you set; after that, the agent takes their details for a callback.

  4. The morning list

Every call, text, and booking is on your calendar and in your inbox before you pour the coffee. What was handled, what was booked, and the one call that wants you personally.

02 · the part most of them skip

It plugs into whatever you already run.

You are not moving your shop into somebody’s app. Tell us what you use and the agent gets wired into it. A full field service system, a scheduling app, a CRM, a shared Google Calendar, or a whiteboard and a phone if that is honestly what it is.

That is the reason setup gets quoted per shop instead of printed on a page. Wiring an agent into a shared calendar and wiring one into a full field service system are not the same week of work, and pretending they are would mean overcharging half of you.

There is a dashboard if you want one, showing calls, messages, and the calendar. It is optional. Plenty of shops never open it, and the agent works exactly the same either way.

03 · the number

$297 a month, and the meter is printed right here.

That covers 400 minutes on the phone, which is somewhere around 130 calls in a month at about three minutes a call. Past that it is 30 cents a minute. Setup is a one time fee, quoted for your shop once we know what the agent has to plug into.

The allowance and the overage rate are on this page on purpose. A surprise usage bill is the fastest way to lose somebody, and you should be able to do the arithmetic yourself before you ever call us.

Where we work.

MarginMax is based in Sparta, in Sussex County. The agent runs on a phone line, so distance changes nothing about how it works. It changes how far the founder drives for the setup.

  • Home base

    Sussex County

Sparta, Newton, Hopatcong, Vernon, Andover, and the lake towns. The consultation and any setup visit here are a short drive, and the shop next to ours is as likely to be a client as a shop in Bergen.

    Sussex County
  • One county over

    Morris County

Down Route 15 to Dover and Wharton, then Denville, Rockaway, Randolph, Morristown, Parsippany, and the towns along Routes 10 and 46. Close enough that setup can happen at your counter instead of over a screen.

    Morris County
  • By phone or video

    The rest of North Jersey

Warren, Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Somerset, and Hudson counties. The consultation is by phone or video, the agent is wired in remotely, and if a setup honestly needs a visit, we drive.

    All nine counties

Built for the trades first.

Each agent is written for one shop: its services, its service area, its after-hours rule. The trades are where that started, and where it is sharpest.

  • Heating and cooling

    HVAC

No-heat calls in January and no-cool calls in July, at the hours those calls come in. The HVAC agent follows your rule on what counts as an emergency and quotes a capacitor only if you have told it to.

    The HVAC page
  • Water and gas

    Plumbing

The burst pipe at 11 PM and the water heater on a Sunday. Answered, the address taken, the job booked or the caller handed to whoever is on call tonight.

    The plumbing page
  • Build and remodel

    Contractors

Estimates booked while you are on a roof or framing a deck. The agent takes the job type, the address, and the timeline, and puts the walkthrough on your calendar.

  • Everyone else

    The rest of Main Street

Electricians, roofers, handymen, and landscapers, and then salons, restaurants, and the shops whose phone is the front door. If the phone matters, it works the same way.

The questions that come up before the call.

01Is this an AI receptionist?

Yes, that is the common name for it. Here it is called an AI phone agent because answering is only the first job: it also texts back the calls it could not take, books the job onto your calendar, and transfers the caller to a person when they ask for one, during the hours you set.

02Does it work outside North Jersey?

Yes. The agent runs on a phone line, so it works for a shop anywhere in New Jersey and anywhere in the United States. The in-person part, the consultation and the setup visit when one is needed, is North Jersey. Everywhere else, the consultation is by phone or video.

03How fast is it live?

Usually a couple of weeks from signing to live, depending on what the agent has to plug into. A shared calendar is faster than a full field service integration. You hear it answer your own line before it ever goes live, and nothing ships until it is right.

04Do I have to fire anyone?

No. The whole point of MarginMax is the opposite. The big AI pitch is to raise margins by cutting the people who answer the phone. We think there is a better way. Your team is the heart of your business. We take the busywork off their plate so they can do the work they were hired for, and we catch the leads that were slipping past everyone. Same Staff. Same Heart. Better Systems. Better Results.

05What does it cost?

The AI phone agent is $297 a month with 400 minutes included, then 30 cents a minute after that, plus a one-time setup fee quoted per business. 400 minutes works out to roughly 130 calls a month at about three minutes a call. No tiers, no bundles.

Do not take our word for it. Call it.

The demo agent is on a real line right now. Tell it your heat quit. Ask if it is a person. It will offer you a time with the founder at the end.

It is an AI. It will tell you so if you ask.
