Fifteen questions, answered in a sentence.

The first line of each answer stands on its own. The line under it is the part a person would want to know next.

Fact 01What is MarginMax Solutions?

MarginMax Solutions LLC is an AI and automation firm in Sparta, New Jersey, founded by Don Martin in April 2026, that builds AI phone agents and practical automation for small service businesses across North Jersey.

It is one company, one founder, and one line of work: taking the calls, texts and follow-ups a small shop cannot get to and handling them in the shop’s own name. It is not a software platform you move your business into, and it is not a call center.

Fact 02Where does MarginMax operate?

MarginMax is based in Sparta, in Sussex County, and works with service businesses across North Jersey: Sussex, Morris, Warren, Passaic, Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Somerset and Hudson counties.

The phone agent itself runs on a phone line, so it works for a shop anywhere in the United States. The in-person part, the consultation and the setup visit when one is needed, is North Jersey.

Fact 03What does MarginMax sell?

Three things: an AI phone agent at $297 a month, custom automations priced to the job, and websites at $199 for one page or $499 for a full site.

The phone agent is the way in and the only offer with a public monthly price. Custom automations wire a shop’s existing tools together so the busywork runs itself, and are sold either as a build the shop then owns or as a workflow MarginMax runs for a monthly fee quoted with the build. Custom app builds are taken on request.

Fact 04What is an AI phone agent?

An AI phone agent is software that answers a business’s phone line in a natural voice, holds a real conversation with the caller, and takes an action: booking an appointment, sending a text, or passing the call to a person.

People also call it an AI receptionist or an AI answering service. The difference from voicemail is that the caller gets an answer. The difference from a human answering service is that it is written on one shop’s services, hours and rules, and it never reads from a generic script.

Fact 05What does a MarginMax AI phone agent do?

It answers every call around the clock under the business’s own name, texts back the calls it could not take, books jobs onto the calendar the shop already uses, and hands the caller to a person when they ask for one, during the hours the shop sets.

Each agent is written for one shop: its services, its service area, its after-hours rule. It quotes prices only if the shop turns that on, it does not diagnose equipment, and it says it is an AI if anyone asks.

Fact 06How much does it cost?

The AI phone agent is $297 a month with 400 minutes included, then 30 cents a minute after that, plus a one-time setup fee quoted per business.

400 minutes works out to roughly 130 calls a month at about three minutes a call. There are no tiers and no bundles. Setup is quoted rather than printed because wiring an agent into a shared calendar and wiring one into a full field service system are different amounts of work. Recurring service can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice, no penalty.

Fact 07Who is it designed for?

Small service businesses whose phone is the front door: HVAC companies, plumbers, contractors, electricians, roofers, handymen and landscapers first, and the rest of Main Street, from salons to restaurants, after that.

The common thread is an owner or a small crew who cannot answer while they are on a job, and a customer who calls the next name on the list when nobody picks up.

Fact 08Does MarginMax replace employees?

No. The agent takes the calls nobody was there for, the after-hours ones, the overflow and the repeat questions, and hands everything else to the people already on the team.

The big AI pitch is to raise margins by cutting the people who answer the phone. We think there is a better way: catch the work that was leaking, so the next hire becomes the smart move. Same Staff. Same Heart. Better Systems. Better Results.

Fact 09Can calls transfer to a person?

Yes. When a caller asks for a person, or when the shop’s rules say a call should reach one, the agent transfers the call live to the number the shop chooses, during the hours the shop sets.

Outside those hours it takes the caller’s details so the shop can call back. It never pretends to be human.

Fact 10Can it book appointments?

Yes. It reads the shop’s real calendar, offers only openings the shop can actually work, books the job, and texts the caller a confirmation.

Reminders go out before the appointment, and a customer who texts back to move it is handled in the same thread.

Fact 11Can it send and receive texts?

Yes. The same agent handles texting: a text back within seconds on a call it could not take, booking confirmations, reminders, and a conversation that carries on in the thread.

Texts go only to people who have agreed to receive them, and replying STOP ends them.

Fact 12Does it work with the software a business already uses?

Yes. The agent is wired into whatever the shop already runs, whether that is a field service platform, a scheduling app, a CRM or a shared Google Calendar, and there is an optional dashboard for shops that have none of those.

Nothing gets ripped out. Calls, texts and bookings land where the jobs already live.

Fact 13How long does setup take?

Usually a couple of weeks from signing to live, depending on what the agent has to plug into, and the owner hears it answer their own line before it ever goes live.

A shared calendar is faster than a full field service integration. Nothing ships until the owner has heard it and it is right.

Fact 14Who founded MarginMax?

Don Martin, who grew up around the trades in North Jersey, founded MarginMax Solutions in April 2026 and still writes every agent himself.

One founder, no call center, no offshore build team, and the same person who picks up when something needs changing.
